Ever Been To 1770? It’s a Great Place to Visit.
When leaving Beautiful Hervey Bay or coming to Hervey Bay may I suggest the scenic Township of 1770 just a three hour drive. There is many features, and fun to be had in 1770 and Agnes Waters, experience the Multi Tourism Award Winning Eco Adventure on the amphibious LARC’s and discover the historic Bustard Head Lighthouse.
Lady Musgrave Island and lagoon is a true coral cay situated only 32 nautical miles from the Town of 1770. The island is set on 3000 acres of living reef with a coral lagoon that is unique to the entire Great Barrier Reef.
The Towns of 1770 and Agnes Waters host many restaurants and cafes, also accommodation is in motels, hotel and great caravan parks. On your journey there are attractions such as Bamboo land ,the property is located just off the Bruce Highway between Torbanlea and Howard Follow the signs from the highway. Bamboo Land is on the beautiful fresh water Burrum River, which with its abundant supply of water, gives the bamboo gardens an almost ‘oasis like’ feel. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the many available picnic tables along the river. Also on your trip it is a must to stop at Historical Childers and soak up the peace in this town and then take a short trip down Rainbows Rd to Brierley Winery and Vineyard there you can take in lunch and check out the wine tastings, the cellar door opens at 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Sunday. I love their Shiraz.
After lunch heading north you can stop at Flying High flora and fauna bird habitat, there is over 2000 parrots and finches in the free flying avaiary. Flying high is located on the Bruce Highway in Apple Tree Creek near Childers.
If you have ever wondered about how a rum distillery works take the tour at the Bundaberg Rum Distillery and find out how, I suggest their Gold Pass tour you will be able to enjoy more after your tour. There is a lot more to do in Bundaberg so maybe spend the night near the sea at Bargara Beach before heading off to 1770/ Agnes Waters the next day..
